[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

Our midterm project for CADVIS2 was for us to animate our own logo (that we might probably use for an opening sequence, etc). Remember the opening sequence of Pixar’s lamp before the actual film? Or the Cinderella castle in Disney? That’s our project, but not that complicated. Anyway, I opted to make my own production company and called it ‘Lolita Production’. And yes: I love the complimentary colors of Yellow and Purple (which is pretty obvious in all of my designs LOL, especially the color purple). I’m quite disappointed with my work since the desired effect of the spotlight did not render properly when the AVI version came out. Oh well. I’ll make a better version in the finals. The music is by Up Dharma Down’s Return Saturn Return.

My finished plate in CADVIS2 :) I was able to submit it a week after. Again, this work is inspired from the stop-motion animated children’s TV series called ‘Shaun the Sheep’.

For our second plate in CADVIS2, we were asked to put texture/color/light in our previous plate. After a quick lecture on how-to’s we started working on our plates. Since we weren’t really asked to submit it after the 3-hour period, I decided to take it home and render it there.

The first activity in CADVIS2 is about 3D modelling. My avid followers here in Tumblr would remember my fascination with sheep because of my boyfriend. My boyfriend loves watching Shaun the Sheep, so I decided to model the protagonist of the series: Shaun and the baby sheep called Timmy. The exercise only required modelling, but I’ve decided to color it to have it’s distinction from the usual gray.

This term is filled with familiar faces.

I’ve survived CADVIS1 and now I’m off to CADVIS2 (Computer Aided Design Visualization 2). My professor this time around is my TECHDRW professor. I thought CADVIS2 was simply a continuation of the latter which involved the use of AutoCAD, but I was wrong. The class was introduced to a new program (but still under the Autodesk family of softwares) called 3ds Max. The software is basically a ‘simpler’ (that’s the correct term, I think) way of creating a 3D stuff. Aside from the fact that they belong to the same software family, 3ds Max is quite a duplicate of Maya. It is true to some extent that the application is easier to use than Maya (there are some premade 3D models included in the application), but I think I prefer Maya more because of its flexibility. 3ds Max also requires certain precision that Maya lacks. I’m not saying that Maya is completely vague when it comes to measurements, but compared to 3ds Max, the latter is more obsessed in creating models from numbers.

Anyway, the first day of class was fairly normal, we did some exercises just to understand the stuff about 3ds max. I made some random stuff and several pre-made 3D models by the software.
